Finalizing Your Enrollment
#1 Where to upload them
Everything is done online in the Sistema Académico (the UIS platform), under Documentos → Cargar documentos para legalización. The full checklist and dates are on UIS's official admissions page, and whatever your admission letter says is what counts.
#2 One PDF per document
Each document goes in its own PDF and its own upload field. If you combine several into one file, like your parents' ID cards and yours, it gets rejected right away. If you see "Transfer error ocurred", it's almost always the file size: compress the PDF and upload it again.
#3 Your parents' RUT
If your dad or mom shows up as active with DIAN (the national tax authority), they'll ask for their RUT (tax registration number). If there are no appointments available with DIAN, email inscripciones@uis.edu.co as soon as possible with proof that you tried to get it. If they have no economic activity and aren't required to file taxes, upload the certificado de no declarante (a certificate stating they're not required to file taxes), which is part of the enrollment process.
#4 Absent, separated, or income-less parents
The socioeconomic form still asks for their information. If there's a child support lawsuit (demanda de alimentos), attach it. If there isn't one, email inscripciones and explain your situation. If either parent has no income, for example because they're a stay-at-home parent, you still upload the certificado de no declarante showing zero income. Leaving the form incomplete without an explanation gets it rejected.
#5 Socioeconomic stratum certificate
You get it at your municipality's Planeación office (the municipal planning office) and it can't be older than 6 months. In Piedecuesta they don't issue it: instead, upload a single PDF with your latest water, electricity, and gas bills. If you have a sibling at UIS, the same certificate works as long as it's still valid and the address is the same.
#6 Is the town hall not giving it to you in time?
Don't leave the field blank. Before the deadline closes, email inscripciones@uis.edu.co with the radicado (the filing receipt number) for the request and ask for an extension. Do the same if the address on the certificate doesn't match the one on your admission letter.
#7 If a document gets rejected
The platform tells you why. Fix it and upload it again in the same field. If the deadline is running out, let inscripciones know you're making the correction: staying quiet can cost you your spot.
#8 Minor's ID card or national ID card
To enroll, your tarjeta de identidad (the minor's ID card) or the contraseña de la cédula (the temporary receipt you get while your national ID card is being issued) works fine. Once you have your cédula (national ID card), update it by emailing inscripciones with your student code, the old number, the new one, and your ID card enlarged to 150% as a PDF. It's mandatory to graduate.
#9 Questions about the form
During the enrollment period there are Zoom rooms by school for live questions about the socioeconomic form. The links are posted on the admissions page.
