Want to change careers? Do this
#1 Who is this information for?
This is for UIS students who want to change careers but don't know how... or don't know if it's possible.
There are a couple of situations to take into account and I will try to explain them below.
First of all, let's look at what the regulations say about transfers. It says that the student must meet, mainly, the following two requirements:
1. Have a weighted average equal to or greater than 3.3
2. Have approved at least 60 credits (If a semester has 20 credits, in the 4th semester you can request the change of career)
#2 You must take into account the following restrictions:
1. The career you want to switch to must NOT have more semesters than the one you are studying. Ex: Studying Nursing and switching to Medicine is NOT possible because Nursing has 10 semesters and Medicine 12.
2. The two careers must be similar. Ex: Between engineering or between careers of the same faculty.
#3 If you don't meet the above, you still have some options:
Suppose you want to change careers because what you are studying doesn't like you and you don't mind having to start over. In this case you can do the following:
1. Not to pay again the registration/liquidation of the career you are studying.
2. Register again at UIS as if you were a new student. Keep in mind that here you risk not being accepted.
3. When you are accepted again, look at the possibility of homologation of subjects that you have already seen. This request must be made at the school of the new career.
