Institutional email, passwords, and wifi

#1 Your institutional email

It ends in @correo.uis.edu.co and is a Microsoft 365 account. Everything official comes through it: enrollment, grades, and notices, so check it often. If you leave it unused for more than six months, it might get deactivated.

#2 Where to find your email and first password

Log into the student portal with your student code and open your personal info: your institutional email and initial password appear there. If you're new, that info also gets sent to the personal email you registered when you enrolled.

#3 How to log in

Go to login.microsoftonline.com and enter your full email and password. You can also add it to your phone's mail app as an Office 365 or Exchange account. If it asks you to set up recovery methods the first time, that's normal.

#4 They're two different passwords

The student portal password and the email password are different, even though they start out the same. If you change one, the other doesn't change.

#5 I forgot my email password

Microsoft's "forgot my password" doesn't work for these accounts. Email admincorreo@correo.uis.edu.co from your registered personal email with your student code, your document type and number, your full name, and the email where you want to receive the new password. It can take up to two business days, so don't leave it for when you need it urgently.

#6 I forgot my student portal password

That one you can recover yourself: in the student portal there's a "Solicitar contraseña" (Request password) option. The new one arrives at your emails. If your registered personal email is wrong, you'll need to update it with your academic office first.

#7 Campus wifi

The network is called "Comunidad UIS." The username is your student code and the password is the student portal one, not the email one. On Android, if it asks for a CA certificate, choose "No validar" (Don't validate), and if it asks for a domain, enter uis.edu.co.

#8 Wifi won't connect?

Forget the "Comunidad UIS" network on your phone and add it again from scratch. If it still doesn't work, ask for help at CENTIC, on the main campus.

#9 Free Office

With your institutional email you can install Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for free. Log into your email on the web, open your profile, and look for the option to install the Office apps. It works as long as your email stays active.

DeTodoUIS is a student community app, not an official UIS channel. Check dates and requirements on the official UIS pages.

This tip, and much more, is in DeTodoUIS.

Free and ad-free, for Android and iOS. If you already have the app, a link like this one may open straight in it when you tap it from a chat or your email; that depends on your phone.

This is done in the DeTodoUIS app.

Free and ad-free. Download it from your store and you will find it there.
